ANTHONY TIMBERLANDS CENTER FURNITURE DESIGN
FIFTH YEAR - FALL SEMESTER - 2023
This studio’s goal was to design the workstations for the new architecture building our University is constructing, the Anthony Timberlands Center. We worked in groups to use construction-grade lumber donated by a Weyerhaeuser grant to design elegant and functional workstations for future design students. Many of us had little to no prior woodworking experience, so we learned a lot about intricate joinery techniques and woodworking systems in a short amount of time. In groups of 4, we designed floor plans for the new studio spaces that included four types of working zones: Concentrate, Create, Collaborate, and Chill. We designed four different types of table workstations for each zone, and we constructed a full-scale 4’ x 4’ x 30” table for the Concentrate zone as our final prototype.
